Boston, MA - The Brown men's crew took third at the Tail of the Charles Regatta this weekend, narrowly losing to Syracuse and Harvard, the latter by only .6 seconds. With their strong performance, the Bears wrap up an impressive fall season, and will be looking towards a potential repeat as Ivy Champions in the spring.
Splitting the varsity eight into two fours, Brown showed off its depth, as Bruno took three of the top seven spots. The "A" boat crossed the line in third with a time of 13:01.7, only two seconds behind Syracuse, which won the event. Brown "C" was able to pull a minor upset, coming in fifth in 13:07.4, while the "B" boat was a second behind at 13:08.5, finishing seventh.
The freshman eight also turned in a solid performance, placing third with a time of 12:34.2. Harvard won the event in 12:22.8, with Yale coming in second at 12:27.5. Brown's "B" boat crossed the line in 12:53.9, rowing well despite what was at times a relatively strong headwind.
The regatta caps off a terrific fall season for the Bears, highlighted by a second place finish in the Champ Eight at the Head of the Charles, and Brown looks to have maintained the momentum from last spring. The Bears are tentatively scheduled to resume racing on March 28, when they will host a dual race with Yale.
