Princeton, NJ - Paul Cooke's optimistic comments about his Brown varsity men's crew last weekend were more than wishful thinking on his part. The Brown varsity proved that on Princeton's Lake Carnegie Saturday, beating the Tigers by 3.6 seconds in the morning for the Content, then coming back to beat Yale by 8.4 seconds in the afternoon.
It was Brown's first victory over Princeton in their varsity race since 2001, the year the Brown varsity last won the Eastern Sprints. The two victories give the Brown varsity a winning dual-meet record for the season.
Princeton won the second-varsity and freshman races, but the Brown frosh gained some consolation by giving the top-ranked Princeton frosh their closest race of the season .
The Brown second varsity and frosh won their afternoon races against Yale,as did the Brown varsity four.
The Brown varsity,second-varsity, third varsity and freshman eights will compete in next Sunday's Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester,MA.
