Princeton, NJ - The #2 Brown men's crew picked up another victory this morning, defeating the Princeton Tigers in three out of four races for the Content Cup on Lake Carnegie. Bruno remains undefeated (6-0), while Princeton falls to 6-2 on the season.
Junior coxswain Rob O'Leary (Fayetteville, NY) helped Bruno's varsity eight earn the Content Cup for the second consecutive year, as Brown and Princeton battled through the 2,000-meter course. The Bears came out on top, posting a time of 5:53.7 to Princeton's 5:57.1. At bow was co-captain Paul Strombom (Seattle, WA) followed by Chris Greene (Cincinnati, OH) in the two seat, Matt Wheeler (Eugene, OR), Cole Bonner (Chicago, IL), Ben Duggan (Bingham, UK), and Gareth Seymour (Niagara Falls, ONT) in the six seat. Co-captain Colin Keogh was in the seven seat, as Scott Morgan (Palo Alto, CA) was at stroke.
The second varsity, coxswained by Devin Wilmot (Saratoga Springs, NY) also turned in a solid effort this morning, picking up a win with a time of 6:05.6. Princeton couldn't keep up with the swift Brown crew, falling behind by 12 seconds with a 6:17.2. Christian Crynes (Seattle, WA) was at bow, followed by Jay Rowan (Fairfax, VA) in the two seat and Ryan McShane (Eugene, OR) in the three seat. In seat four was Sean Medcalf (Philadelphia, PA), Mike Snyder (San Francisco, CA) in five, Nick Ritter (Huntsville, AL) in six, Armen Taylor (Seattle, WA) in seven, and at stroke was Greg Stepina (Tallahassee, FL).
The third varsity race was a close one, but Bruno prevailed with a 6:24.7 to the Tigers' 6:28.2. The Tigers claimed the novice race by just four seconds, posting a 6:02.3 to Brown's 6:06.5.
Brown will be back in action at the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond on May 18 in Worcester, Mass.
