No. 2 Brown Men's Crew Defeats Northeastern for Dreissigacker Cup

Boston, MA - The #2 ranked Brown Men's Crew defeated #7 Northeastern for the Dreissigacker Cup on Saturday morning on the Charles River in Boston. It was the 44th rowing of the Dreissigacker Cup, as Bruno now holds a 24-20 all-time advantage.
The undefeated varsity eight got off to a great start, taking a two-seat advantage at 500. The next 1,500 was all Brown, as the crew gained opened water at 1000 and two lengths at 1,500. Junior coxswain Rob O'Leary (Fayetteville, NY) helped lead the crew to a time of 5:42.0, setting a new record for the race by 2.1 seconds. At stroke was Scott Morgan (Palo Alto, CA), as co-captain Colin Keogh (Greenwich, CT) was in the seven seat. Gareth Seymour (Niagara Falls, ONT) was in seat six, followed by Ben Duggan (Bingham, UK), Cole Bonner (Chicago, IL), Matt Wheeler (Eugene, OR), Chris Greene (Cincinnati, OH) and co-captain Paul Strombom (Seattle, WA) at bow.
Devin Wilmot (Saratoga Springs, NY) coxswained Brown's second varsity, leading Bruno to another victory with a 5:50.7. The Northeastern Huskies came in just two seconds behind with a 5:52.9. Stroking the second eight was Greg Stepina (Tallahassee, FL), as Armen Taylor (Seattle, WA) was in seat seven, Nick Ritter (Huntsville, AL) in six, Garrett Kirk (Boston, MA) in five, Edward O'Neal (Claremont, NY) in four, Ryan McShane (Eugene, OR) in three, Sean Medcalf (Philadelphia, PA) in the two seat, and at bow was Christian Crynes (Seattle, WA).
Also picking up a win was Bruno's freshmen, defeating the Huskies by two seconds. Erin Alpert (Purchase, NY) coxswained, as Chris Bowman (Wilmette, IL) was at stroke. Brendan Nolan (Roswell, GA) was in seat seven, followed by Brent Mylrea (McFarland, WI), Dan Aziz (Oakville, ONT), Matt See (San Francisco, CA), Jim McLaughlin (Ridley Park, PA), George Brennan (Bloomfield, CT) and Geoff Martin (Boxford, MA) at bow.
Next, the Bears will host Dartmouth on Saturday, April 26th, on the Seekonk River.
