San Diego, CA - The men's crew took fifth at the San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday, capping off a solid weekend of racing for the Bears against some of the toughest competition in the country. Cal won the event in 5:51.8, followed by Washington, Harvard, Stanford, Brown, and Princeton. Bruno completed the 2000-meter course with a time of 6:03.77.
In Saturday racing, Brown's varsity eight, composed of, from bow, Christian Crynes (Seattle, WA), Gavin Crynes (Seattle, WA), Matt Wheeler (Eugene, OR), Cole Bonner (Chicago, IL), Ben Duggan (Bingham, UK), Scott Morgan (Palo Alto, CA), Nick Ritter (Huntsville, AL), Sean Medcalf (Philadelphia, PA) and coxswain Rob O'Leary (Fayetteville, N.Y.) took third in an extremely competitive heat to advance to the grand finals. Washington won the heat with a time of 5:51, followed by Harvard and Brown, who crossed the line within half a second of one another.
The Bears will be back in action next weekend, when they travel to Boston on Saturday to compete against Harvard.
