A 1990 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Steven R.
Ouellette has coached rowing for over ten years. After being
introduced to rowing in college, stroking the junior varsity eight,
he returned to coach both the men and women's club at UConn for
four years. During that time the popularity of the club grew to
over 50 athletes and Ouellette succeeded in lobbying to raise the
women's program to Division I varsity status. In 2000, Ouellette
came to Brown to assist under then head coach Scott Roop and
assistant coach Paul Cooke. Subsequently assisting Mathew Carlson
and now Luke McGee, Ouellette has helped several second freshman
and third varsity boats to medal success at the Eastern Sprints and
IRA regatta. Ouellette brings his experience to improve the many
novices that continue to grow and improve the overall quality and
success of the team. Ouellette resides in Connecticut where he also
owns and manages a classic car company. An avid boater, he can
often be found exploring Narragansett Bay and the surrounding New
England waters.
