Brown Varsity Eight Victorious at EARC Sprints; Claims Ivy League Title
May 13, 2012The Brown men’s crew pulled off a fantastic upset on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday afternoon, downing the highly-touted favorite, Harvard, in the varsity eight race by just over thee-tenths of a second to come away victorious at the 67th annual Eastern Associate of Rowing College (EARC) Sprints. With the victory, the Bears claimed the Marc Bergschneider Ivy League Championship Trophy, snapping Harvard’s two-year reign at the top of the conference.
Brown Looks to Speed Past Competition at EARC Sprints
Head coach Paul Cooke and the Brown Men’s Crew heads to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, May 13, for the start of postseason racing at the 67th Eastern Association of Rowing College (EARC) Sprints. Not only is the top spot in the EARC on the line, but the Ivy League trophy is also up for grabs.
Brown Wins Content Cup With Open Water Victory Over Princeton
On a day of calm winds and clear skies the No. 3 Brown men's crew was victorious over No. 8 Princeton, bringing home the Content Cup to Providence. The Bears's varsity eight boat had and exicting race against the Tigers as the back-and-forth contest ended in Bruno's favor as Brown sped past Princeton.
No. 4 Brown Men’s Crew Sweeps No. 15 Dartmouth
The fourth-ranked Brown Men’s Crew swept all races with Ivy League foe and 15-ranked Dartmouth this Saturday on the Seekonk River under favorable conditions with the highlight of the day an open water victory in the varsity eight race to retain the Atalanta Cup, the first intercollegiate rowing trophy.
