![]() Three Brown oarsman recently raced at Trials for the U.S. Rowing team. Ben Harrison '07, raced in the coxed pair trials, defeated crews from Vesper, Penn AC and US Rowing to earn the chance to represent the United State at the World Championships in Austria next month. More than 950 athletes will take part in the World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships in Linz/Ottensheim, Austria, from July 22 though July 27. Hailing from 55 countries, the athletes will race in more than 300 boats. With 2008 being an Olympic year, the World Rowing Championships offers non-Olympic boat classes only and is combined with the World Rowing Junior Championships. (MORE) ![]() Bears Finish Fifth In Team Competition at IRA Regatta After advancing three boats to the grand finals, the Brown men's crew placed fifth in the team standings at the 2008 Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships on the Cooper River in New Jersey on Saturday. The Bears' second varsity eight, freshman eight, and varsity four with coxswain advanced to the grand finals, with the first-years turning in the team's top finish by coming in fifth. The five females and five males were starters or key reserves on officially recognized varsity teams with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
