
BOSTON – The fourth-ranked Brown men's crew earned a victory in the varsity race over No. 6 Northeastern to take back the Dreissigacker Cup in the annual meeting between the two crews Saturday on the Charles River.
In the third race of the day with a slight tailwind, the Bears downed the Huskies in the varsity race to determine the winner of the Dreissigacker Cup, winning by a length at 5:35.20 before the home crew crossed at 5:37. Brown moves to 3-1 in head-to-head competition this season after topping Harvard last weekend.
Northeastern opened the morning with a victory in the third varsity in a time of 5:53.81 and then earned a win in the second varsity in a time of 5:39.17.
The Bears had three crews entered in the varsity fours, but the Huskies edged out Brown's top boat, winning at 6:31.26 to 6:32.81.
Brown will host Dartmouth and George Washington next weekend on the Seekonk River. Brown and Dartmouth will race for the annual Atalanta Cup.
