PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pair of former Brown men's rowers have qualified for a spot on the United States squad that will compete at the 2014 World Rowing Championships from August 24 – 31 in Amsterdam. In addition, former Brown oarsmen Nikola Stojic and Steve Van Knotsenburg will compete at the championships, representing Serbia and Canada, respectively.
Ben Dann '12, who helped the Bears to a first-place finish in the varsity eight at the 2012 EARC Eastern Sprints, earned a spot on the national squad for the fifth time in his career. He will be stroking the Heavyweight Quad (4x) for the United States.
Peter Gibson, who graduated from Brown in 2013, will row in the seventh seat of the Lightweight Eight (8+) for the United States.
Stojic '95, who stroked the Brown 1995 IRA Champion Varsity Eight, will represent Serbia in the Straight Four (4-), while Van Knotsenburg will compete in the Double Scull (2x) for Canada after rowing for the Canadian National Team for 10 years.
The United States National Team is coached by former national team member Luke McGhee '01, a former Brown freshmen coach and two-time Eastern Sprints champion with the Bears.
