Men’s Crew Competes at Head of the Housatonic
OXFORD, Conn. –After a successful weekend for the varsity in Rochester to open the fall season, the Brown men's crew returned to the water with the freshmen taking on the field at the Head of the Housatonic on Saturday.
Brown raced two freshman eights as both boats competed in the Collegiate Novice Men's Eight, finishing first and third, with times of 14:27 and 16:05.
Brown's 1F took on EARC rival Yale as well as Columbia's Lightweights and Williams College in the IRA Collegiate Men's event just two hours later, placing third with a time of 14:02. Yale entered seven boats between their Heavyweight and Lightweight squads. Yale's 1V posted the fastest time of 13:24.
In one week, the Bears are back in action against elite competition in Boston at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Brown will have three entries in the Championship Eight (Sunday, Oct. 20) and two entries in the Club Eight (Saturday, Oct. 19). Brown Alumni will have two entries in the Club eight, one in the Alumni Eight (Saturday, Oct. 19) and one in the Championship Eight.
