Head coach Jesse Agel's Brown men's basketball team returns from the Holiday break energized and ready to host Quinnipiac on Monday, December 29 in a special matinee start at 1:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The game will also be televised live on the New England Sports Network (NESN).
Following a 12-day layoff for final exams, Brown (4-6) came out flat in a 78-66 loss at Wagner on 12/21/08. Junior Matt Mullery's 18 points led the Bears. Quinnipiac (6-4) is coming off an 84-79 loss to Vermont to snap a three game winning streak.
All 12 of Brown's healthy players scored points against Wagner, led by Mullery's 18 points, and followed by Adrian Williams '11 (10 points), Peter Sullivan `11 (7 points), Chris Taylor '11 (6 points), Sean Kane '11 (6 points), Jean Herbert Harris '12 (5 points), Stefan Kaluz '12 (4 points), Steve Gruber '10 (3 points), Noel Hollingsworth '12 (2 points), Chris Skrelja '09 (2 points), Morgan Kelly `11 (2 points), and Scott Friske '09 (1 point).
Brown and Quinnipiac have met five times, dating back to the 1998-1999 season, with the Bears holding a 4-1 series advantage over the Bobcats. Brown has won the last three games over the Bobcats, including an 86-79 win last year in Hamden, Connecticut. Chris Skrelja '09 and Scott Friske '09 each had 11 points as all five starters scored in double figures.
Monday's game against Quinnipiac will be televised live on the New England Sports Network (NESN), with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Bill Schweitzer will call the play, Bill Mecca will provide the color commentary, and Rich Coppola is the sideline reporter.
