Providence, R.I. - Brown junior center Matt Mullery (Millstone, N.J.) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for his pivotal role in leading the Bears to a win over Hartford last week.
Mullery exploded for 22 points, tying his career scoring high, to lead Brown to a 72-62 victory over Hartford. The Ivy League's leader in field goal percentage, Mullery scored his 22 points on five of eight shooting from the field and 12-of-17 shooting from the free throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds, blocked two shots and handed out two assists.
For the season, Mullery is second on the team in scoring at 15 points per game, and is tied with senior Chris Skrelja for the team lead in rebounding, pulling down six boards per contest. He has also added 18 assists, 15 blocks, and five steals on the season, helping Brown to a 4-5 early record despite a challenging schedule.
Though the Bears are on a short break for exams, they will be back in action on December 21, when the team will travel to Staten Island to play Wagner at 4:00 p.m.
