Providence, RI - Brown University senior guard Jason Forte (Rockville, Maryland) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and freshman guard Mark McAndrew (Barrington, Rhode Island) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for their play in leading Brown to wins over Wagner and Binghamton last week.
Forte, the Ivy League Player of the Year, scored a season high 25 points on the road against Wagner, and scored all of his game-high 22 points in the second half against Binghamton in Brown's first home game. Against Wagner, Forte connected on 6 treys (6 of 10), the fifth most in Brown basketball history, in helping Brown to its first win of the season.
With the 22 points vs. Binghamton, the Brown co-captain moved past Chuck Savage (1,190 points from 1988-92) into 11th place on Brown's all-time scoring with 1,193 career points.
McAndrew scored nine points in Brown's win over Wagner on Staten Island, hitting 3 of 5 treys, pulling down a team high 5 rebounds. He came back with an eight-point performance in Brown's victory over Binghamton, hitting 3 of 4 shots from the floor, and grabbing a team high 5 rebounds.
McAndrew scored a season high 10 points against Wright State earlier this season. He has connected on a torrid 54 percent of his shots from behind the three-point arc, converting 7 of 13 three-point attempts.
