March 9, 2009

Providence, Rhode Island - Brown junior center Matt Mullery (Millstone, NJ) has been named the Ivy League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading Brown to wins over Harvard, 61-59, and Dartmouth, 69-59, on the final weekend of the regular season.

Mullery saved the best to last when he turned in one of the greatest performances in Brown basketball history with a 20-20 double-double against Harvard, scoring 21 points and grabbing 20 rebounds against the Crimson. Mullery connected on nine of nine for the game and blocked three shots. Mullery is the first Brown player in 25 years to grab 20 rebounds in a game.

Mullery's rare 20-20 double-double against the Crimson was Brown's first in 35 years. Phil Brown scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds against Memphis State on December 12, 1974.

He also put together a big game in Brown's win over Dartmouth, scoring 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the field, grabbing six rebounds and blocking four shots as Brown earned its first Ivy sweep of the season. In two games, Mullery connected on 89 percent of his shots, hitting 16 of 18 field goals.

Mullery also established a new single season Brown record for blocked shots with 59 blocks, seventh best in Ivy League basketball history.
