Scott Friske Earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honors For Second Straight Week

Providence, RI - For Immediate Release: January 9, 2006 Brown freshman forward Scott Friske (Charlevoix, MI) has been named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week after registering consecutive double-doubles for the Bears in games against Canisius and Quinnipiac.
Friske opened the week by scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against Canisius, and then stepped-up to score a career high 26 points and pull down 10 rebounds in Brown's 64-60 victory over Quinnipiac on the road.
Friske was 6 of 11 from the field and 7 of 9 from the charity stripe against Canisius, while also handing out an assist and blocking a shot.
Against Quinnipiac, Friske dominated play, shooting 7 of 13 from the field and connecting on 12 of 13 free throws, including 4 of 4 in the last 23 seconds. His jump shot with 4:12 remaining broke a 56-56 tie and gave Brown the lead for good. Friske, who also had a career high three steals, scored six of Brown's last eight points down the stretch.
Friske is averaging 9.3 points per game for the Bears and is Brown's second leading rebounder with 5.3 rebounds per game.
Brown, 4-9 overall, but winners of two of its last three games, open the Ivy League season on Saturday against Yale in New Haven. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Payne Whitney Gymnasium.
