Providence, RI - Senior forward Seth Doliboa scored 23 points as Wright State held off Brown by a 74-71 score on Sunday afternoon.
Doliboa scored nine of the Raiders, first 11 points, and then gave way to his teammates as the Raiders opened up a 21-7 lead with 9:55 remaining in the first half. Brown's offense struggled in the first half, as the Bears shot 31.6 percent from the field.
Down 33-15 with 4:02 to play in the first half, however, Brown rallied and closed out the period with a 10-0 run, cutting the Raiders, lead to 33-25 on a layup by Jaime Kilburn as the teams headed into the locker room.
The Bears' surge continued after halftime, as senior Mike Martin hit three 3-pointers during the first 4:53 of the second half while teammate Patrick Powers added one more. Brown pulled even with Wright State at 46-46 when Jason Forte scored on a fast-break layup with 12:38 remaining.
The Raiders never relinquished their lead, however. Vernard Hollins, who scored nine of his 11 points in the second half, helped Wright State keep pace with the Bears until the Raiders opened up a 59-52 lead with 7:34 to play,
Forte scored six points during the final 2:05 to lead Brown's come-from-behind effort, but Wright State converted on 8 of 12 free throw attempts, which was enough to hold off the Bears, final push.
Jaime Kilburn led the Bears (2-7) with 17 points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots. Martin tallied 15 points, making his second appearance of the season, while Forte added 14 points.
Doliboa pulled down 10 rebounds for the Raiders (3-6) to earn his third double-double of the season.
