Manhanga Helps Bears To 95-73 win over Maine-Fort Kent

Orono, Maine - Freshman Sam Manhanga scored a career high 20 points to lead Brown to a 95-73 win over Maine-Fort Kent in the first round of the Maine Invitational. Brown will face Maine, a 99-50 winner of the University of New England, in the championship game of the Maine Invitational on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.

Brown led from start to finish, grabbing a 51-36 lead at the half after leading by as many as 19 points in the first half, 45-26, on a three-point basket by sophomore Luke Ruscoe with 2:55 remaining.

Brown broke the game open by outscoring the Bengals 12-0 to open the second half to grab a 63-36 lead on a layup by senior Pat Powers with just 3:29 into the second half.

Manhanga provided an inside presence for the Bears, connecting on 9 of 10 shots from the field in scoring his 20 points. Powers chipped in 15 points, while senior Jaime Kilburn registered his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Three different Brown players registered their career scoring highs, including sophomore Andrew Salter with nine points, and freshmen Marcus Becker and P.J. Flaherty with eight points each.
