Staten Island, New York - Senior forward Jermaine Hall scored 22 points and junior Teoine Carroll added 18 points to lead Wagner to an 81-69 non-league win over Brown. The win lifts Wagner to a 1-1 overall record while Brown falls to 0-4 overall.
The game lived up to its shootout billing for the third consecutive season, with Brown winning last year's game, 103-100, and Wagner capturing the previous year's game, 122-91.
The Seahawks jumped out to a 17-7 advantage to start the game, but Brown scored the next eight points to pull to within two points, 17-15, on a layup by sophomore GJ King with 10:19 left in the half.
The Seahawks broke the game open with a 17-2 spurt to take control, 34-17, on a jump shot by Carroll with 3:47 remaining in the first half. Hall scored 17 of his game high 22 points in the first half as Wagner built a 40-27 at intermission.
Wagner used the long range game in the second half, knocking down 7 of 11 three-point shots, with Carroll leading the way, hitting 3 of 3 shots from behind the arc. Carroll netted 13 of his 18 points in the second half. The Seahawks shot 50 percent from three-point range for the game, hitting 11 of 22 treys.
The Bears were led by senior forward Alai Nuualiitia, who scored all of his 13 points in the second half, hitting 5 of 8 shooting from the field, while grabbing six rebounds. Junior Jaime Kilburn also scored in double figures for Brown with 11 points.
Wagner had two other double figure scorers, Courtney Pritchard with 16 points and Dedrick Dye with 15 points.
The Bears will play their fifth consecutive game on the road on Saturday when they travel to Annapolis, Maryland, to face Navy in a 3:30 p.m. game.
