Providence, Rhode Island - Senior Mark McAndrew exploded for 16 of his game high 25 points in the first half points to lead Brown to 77-51 Ivy League win over Dartmouth at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The win lifts the Bears to 11-8 overall and 3-2 in the Ivy League while Dartmouth falls to 8-11, 1-4 in Ivy play.
McAndrew's 25 points came on phenomenal 8 of 10 shooting from the field, including 3 of 3 from behind the three-point arc, while connecting on a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
Brown led from start to finish, leading by as many as 15 points in the first half, the last time 34-19 on a lay-up by senior Damon Huffman with 4:10 left in the half. McAndrew's 16 first half led all scorers as the Bears built a 37-23 lead at halftime behind 70 percent shooting from the field (14 of 20).
Brown jumped on the Big Green at the outset of the second half, outscoring Dartmouth, 15-4 to open the half to grab a 52-27 lead with 15:35 remaining on three-point basket by junior Scott Friske.
Friske finished with nine points on 4 of 4 shooting from the field, while sophomore Matt Mullery also scored nine points, connecting on 4 of 4 field goals. Freshman Peter Sullivan was also perfect from the field, hitting 3 of 3 field goals in scoring six points.
The Bears finished the game by shooting 28 of 44 from the field (64 percent).
The Bears held Dartmouth's Alex Barnett, the Ivy League's leading scorer, to 10 points on 5 of 16 shooting from the field.
Brown will be back in action again Saturday night (2/9/08) at home against Harvard. The game will be televised live on the YES Network and will start at 7:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
