Men's Basketball Wins Eighth Straight Game, Beating Dartmouth 61-53

Providence, RI - Senior guard Earl Hunt scored 17 points as Brown defeated Dartmouth 61-53 Saturday night to maintain sole possession of the Ivy League lead. Brown (11-9, 6-0 Ivy) has won eight straight games, its longest streak since the 1943-44 season.
Brown jumped out to a 25-17 first-half lead when Jaime Kilburn hit a layup with 10:51 to play. After Dartmouth coach Dave Faucher received a technical foul with 10:00 to play, the Big Green responded by scoring 10 straight points over the next 6:10 to take a 27-25 lead. The Bears rallied during the final minutes of the half, taking a 32-30 edge into the locker room.
In the second half, Harold Bailey hit a 3-pointer with 13:30 remaining, giving the Bears a 43-36 advantage. David Gardner scored six straight points for the Big Green, drawing his team to within one with 11:18 to play. Brown held off the charge with a 10-3 run over the next 6:34, capped off by a Hunt pull-up jump shot. Mike McLaren cut Brown,s lead to 56-51, sinking a 3-pointer with 3:22 remaining, but Brown shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win.
Kilburn, who finished with 12 points on 4 of 4 shooting from the field, has now scored on 19 straight field goal attempts, six shy of the NCAA record.
McLaren led the Big Green (4-15, 0-6) with 12 points, all from 3-point range.
