Former Vermont and Marist College standout Ryan Schneider is the newest member of the Brown coaching staff, joining the staff as an assistant coach.

Scnheider played professionally in Portugal from 2009-2011.  He competed for CAB Madeira in the top Portuguese league, averaging 15.3 points, and 7.3 rebounds per game.  In 2011, Schneider played for AD Ovarense in Portugal.

 

A 2009 graduate of Marist College with a BA in Communication/Sports Communications, Schneider scored 1,000 points and grabbed 500 rebounds throughout his collegiate career, and holds the unique distinction of playing for four different Division I head coaches.

 

Schneider appeared in two Conference Championship games and played in Vermont’s upset win over Syracuse in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. He was an ESPN second team Academic All-American, a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection, and a MACC second team All-Conference player.  Schneider also earned the Metropolitan New York Sportswriters Award, and was featured in a New York Times article in 2009.

 

Schneider worked as an intern at WFAN in New York and wrote a blog, “Highlighting Hoops,” in covering the New York Knicks and college basketball. The Shrub Oak, New York native is the all-time leading scorer at Lakeland High School.  He currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
