Cedric Kuakumensah ’16 and Steven Spieth ’17 Sign Professional Basketball Contracts

Providence, R.I. - Former Brown basketball standouts Cedric Kuakumensah '16 and Steven Spieth '17 have agreed to play professional basketball in Denmark and Argentina, respectively.

 

Kuakumensah, a two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and the Ivy League's all-time leader in blocked shots, will be playing for the Horsens (Denmark) IC in the Basketligaen First Division. Horsens IC is a perennial power in the league, winning the division in 2015 and 2016, while finishing second in 2017. He played for the Redwell Gunners Oberwart of the Austria-A Bundesliga last season.

 

Spieth signed with Club Obras Sanitaris team in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a First Division club in the Liga Nacional de Basket South league. Spieth, who recently played for the Dallas Mavericks Summer League team, earned First Team All-Ivy honors for the Bears. His 117 career starts are the most ever at Brown and second in the Ivy record book, while his 118 games played are first at Brown and rank 11th in Ivy League history.
