Norman Hobbie Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week
Providence, R.I. - Brown freshman guard Norman Hobbie (Spring Lake, NJ) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season for his role in Brown victories over New Hampshire and Daniel Webster.
Hobbie hit on one three-pointer and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line in Brown's 72-68 win over New Hampshire. He came back with a career-high 20 points in his first collegiate start in a 91-50 win over Daniel Webster, connecting on 6-of-13 three-pointers, while grabbing a season high four rebounds and adding an assist. Hobbie connected on 7-of-14 field goals overall.
Hobbie is averaging 7.0 points per game for the Bears and ranks fifth in the Ivy League in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 26-of-59 treys (.441).
Brown finished its non-league schedule with an 8-6 mark, one victory short of the school record for non-league wins held by Brown's 2001-2002 team.
The Bears open their Ivy League season on Saturday, January 18, traveling to New Haven, CT, to battle Yale. Tip off at the John J. Lee Amphitheater is 2:00 pm.
