Sean McGonagill and Norman Hobbie Named Ivy League Player, Rookie of the Week
Providence, R.I. - Brown senior All-Ivy guard Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL) and freshman guard Norman Hobbie (Spring Lake, NJ) have been named the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their play in games against Providence College and Sacred Heart.
McGonagill averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while playing 79 minutes in the two games. McGonagill scored 14 of his game-high 21 points on the second half in Brown's narrow loss at Providence. With the Bears trailing by five points, he connected on a long three-point basket with nine seconds remaining, stole the in-bounds pass and came up just short in his step-back trey. McGonagill came back to score 14 of his team-high 23 points in the second half to lead the Bears to a win over Sacred Heart. He stole the show in that game with a career-high five steals.
Hobbie had a phenomenal shooting week for the Bears, connecting on 6-of-7 field goals, including 5-of-6 from behind the three-point arc. Hobbie scored 11 of his career-high 14 points in the first half in Brown's win over Sacred Heart. He was outstanding from behind the three-point arc, making four of his five three-point attempts. Seeing his first collegiate playing time against Providence earlier in the week, he connected on his only three-point attempt of the game.
