Brown Hosts Albany On Tuesday In Last Game Before Exams
Coming off a road win over American, the Brown men's basketball team closes out the first semester on Tuesday, December 10, hosting Albany at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears (6-2) are off to their best start in 12 years and will be looking for their first ever win over the Great Danes. Watch the Bears on the Ivy League Digital Network, with game time at 7:00 p.m.

Brown Holds Off American, 72-67, Behind Rafael Maia’s 14 Points
Junior forward Rafael Maia’s (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored 14 points, leading four Brown players in double figures, as the Bears earned a hard-fought 72-67 win over American University and its best start in 14 years. Brown improves to 6-2 overall, its best start to the season since 2001-2002 when the Bears opened with a 7-2 mark. American falls to 3-5 overall.

Coach Mike Martin's Brown men's basketball team is heading to the Nation's Capital to face American University on Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 pm. The Bears, playing their sixth road game of the young season, come into the contest with a 5-2 record and are off to their best start in 12 years.

Brown Rallies for 72-61 Win Over Central Connecticut
Senior Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL) scored 13 of his team high 18 points in the second half to rally Brown to a 72-61 win over Central Connecticut at the Pizzitola Sports Center Saturday afternoon, to improve its record to 5-2 overall. Central Connecticut fell to 1-5 for the season.

Brown had its three-game winning streak stopped by Bryant Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 70-67 decision to the Bulldogs, despite 18 points from Bears’ senior Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL). Brown, playing its fifth straight road game, falls to 4-2 with the loss, while Bryant improves to 4-2.

Leland King Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week
Brown freshman forward Leland King (Inglewood, CA) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after a breakout week where he averaged 17 points per game and 10 rebounds in two games and led the Bears to road victories over UMass-Lowell and Longwood.

Senior guard Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL) and freshman forward Leland King (Inglewood, CA) combined for 38 points to lead Brown to its third straight victory, 81-69, over Longwood at Willett Hall Friday evening. The Bears played their fourth straight road game and improved to 4-1 with the victory, while Longwood falls to 2-2.

Coming off road wins over Sacred Heart and UMass-Lowell, the Brown men's basketball team (3-1) travels to Farmville, Virginia, to face Longwood (2-1) on Friday, November 22, with tip-off at 7:00 pm. Walker’s 17 Points Leads Brown Over UMass-Lowell, 87-76
The game was billed as an historic event for the UMass-Lowell basketball team, playing its first home game as a Division I team with an overflow crowd on hand at Costello Athletic Center. Brown played the spoiler role, though, getting 17 points from junior forward Dockery Walker (Magnolia, DE) and a career high 16 points from freshman forward Leland King (Inglewood, CA) in a 87-76 win over the River Hawks Tuesday evening.

Brown Narrowly Falls To Providence, 73-69
Coach Mike Martin’s Brown men’s basketball team came into the Dunkin’ Donuts Center looking for its second straight upset of Providence College, and Bears’ junior All-Ivy guard Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL) nearly pulled it off. Trailing the Friars by five points with time running out, McGongill knocked down a trey with nine seconds remaining, stole the inbounds pass and had a good look at a trey that just fell off the front rim as Brown’s rally fell short in a 73-69 loss to Providence Wednesday evening.

Bears Head Downtown To Battle Providence
Fresh off a season opening win over Binghamton, the Brown men's basketball travels down College Hill to the Dunkin' Donuts Center for the 119th meeting with cross-town rival Providence on Wednesday, November 13. The Bears defeated the Friars on the Brown campus last year and both team come in to Wednesday's game without a loss. Tip-off is at 7pm, and the game will be televised on Fox Sports 2, with radio coverage on WPRV AM-790.

Ivy League men's basketball is back on the NBC Sports Network for a second season in 2013-14 with a 10-game schedule featuring all eight Ancient Eight teams. Brown Picked Fifth In Ivy League Preseason Men’s Basketball Media Poll
The Brown’s men’s basketball team, who finished fourth in the Ivy standings a year ago, will have some bulletin board material after being picked fifth in the 2013-14 Ivy League Preseason Poll. Defending Ivy League Champion Harvard was chosen first in the poll, receiving all 17 first place votes. Head coach Mike Martin’s squad features several significant returning players from last year’s 13-15, 7-7 Ivy team, as the Bears look to challenge for the Ivy title with a mix of experience and youth, including six newcomers.
