Matt Sullivan Named Capital One Academic All-American
Providence, Rhode Island - Brown University junior guard Matthew Sullivan (Wilmette, IL) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Men's Basketball team in Division I, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sullivan was named to the Academic All-American third team.
Sullivan is the seventh Brown basketball player to be honored as an Academic All-American, joining Darren Brady '85, Todd Murray '85, Jim Turner '86, Rick Lloyd '92, Matt Mullery '10, and Garrett Leffelman '11.
An Economics concentrator, Sullivan has posted a 4.0 grade point average. He has started 25 of 27 games for the Bears and 60 games in nearly three years at Brown.
Sullivan has gotten stronger as the season has progressed, scoring in double figures in Brown's last seven games. He is averaging 9.6 points per game overall, including 12.4 ppg in Ivy League games, second best on the Brown team.
Sullivan registered 26 points against Albany the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Carrier Dome, connecting on 8 of 18 field goals, including 5 of 9 from behind the three-point arc. He registered 21 points against Cornell on 5 of 8 shooting from behind the three-point arc, and netted 17 points against Columbia.
