Providence, Rhode Island – Brown basketball coach Jesse Agel announced today that junior All-Ivy forward Tucker Halpern (Brookline, MA) will be out for the remainder of the season due to illness. Halpern did not play in any games for the Bears in 2011-2012 and missed most of the pre-season.
"My main concern is for Tucker's health and having him return to our team next year at full strength," said Agel. "For our team, it's a terrible blow. We had counted on Tucker to lead us, not just on the court, but off the court as well."
Halpern is an All-Ivy player who averaged 12.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Bears a year ago. He scored in double figures 19 times last year, including a career high 29 points against Harvard, where he connected on 10 of 15 field goals, including 6 of 9 from behind the three-point arc, 10th best in Brown basketball history. Halpern ranked sixth in the Ivy League in scoring with 14.3 ppg in league games.
