Providence, RI - Brown freshman point guard Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL) has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season after his performance last weekend against Dartmouth and Harvard.
McGonagill scored 15 points and pulled down a team high nine rebounds in Brown's win over Dartmouth Friday night. He came back to register 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the field, and seven assists against Harvard Saturday evening. He also connected on 11 of 11 free throws for the weekend, including 6 of 6 in the last two minutes against Dartmouth.
He is Brown's top scorer in Ivy games with 15.3 points per game, and ranks fourth in the Ivy League in assists with 5.0 per game. McGonagill is also shooting 81-percent from the free throw line, eighth best in the Ivy League.
Two weeks ago, McGonagill was named both the Ivy Player and Rookie of the Week after he netted 39 points against Columbia to match the Pizzitola Sports Center and Brown Freshman scoring record. McGonagill's 15 field goals against the Lions shattered the previous Pizzitola Sports Center record (12) and ranks seventh in the Brown record book.
