Freshman Tucker Halpern Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week
Providence, Rhode Island - Brown freshman forward Tucker Halpern
(Brookline, Mass.) was named the Ivy League’s Rookie of the
Week for the second time this season after helping Brown to weekend
victories at Penn (80-73) and Princeton (57-54), and propelling the
Bears to a sweep of the Quakers and Tigers on the road for the
second time in Brown basketball history.
Halpern scored 11 points on 3 of 4 shooting from the field in
Brown's win over Penn at the Palestra in Philadelphia, while
pulling down 3 rebounds, handing out three assists and blocking
three shots.
With Brown struggling in the first half against Princeton, Halpern
kept the Bears in the game with 12 first half points and finished
the game with 6 of 8 shooting from the field, adding two assists
and a rebound. Halpern shot a sizzling 75-percent from the field (9
of 12) for the two games.
Halpern is averaging 8.6 points per game in his rookie season for
the Bears, while his 61 assists rank second on the Brown team. He
tossed in a career high 26 points earlier this season against
Quinnipiac.
Halpern and his Brown teammates travel to Boston, Mass., on Friday,
February 26, to face Harvard, and Hanover, New Hampshire, on
Saturday, February 27 to battle Dartmouth. Both games start at 7:00
p.m.
