Brown senior Dan Spring (Washington, DC) has been selected by the Detroit Tigers on the 42nd Round of the Amateur Draft. Spring will report to the Oneonta Tigers of the New York Penn League in Oneonta, New York.
A three-time All-Ivy selection, Spring was one of the top relief pitchers in the Ivy League, earning second team All-Ivy honors in 2003. He made 10 appearances in Ivy League play, posting a 3.12 ERA in 17.1 innings.
The 6-2, 195, Spring, who was Brown's back-up catcher, compiled a 2-4 record in relief with 33 strike-outs and a 3.18 ERA. A right handed pitcher, Spring is expected to move into the closer role for the Oneonta Tigers.
