Wiginton Named CoSIDA District I First Team Academic All-American

Stanford, CT - Brown junior designated hitter/leftfielder Bobby Wiginton (Fresno, CA) has been named a CoSIDA District I First Team Academic All-American in baseball. Wiginton led the Bears and was second in the Ivy League with a .415 batting average this season. He is concentrating in engineering with a 3.42 GPA and will move on to the National Academic All-American ballot.

In Ivy League play, Wiginton batted a team-high .437 at the plate. With the bases loaded he averaged an astonishing .667 and also averaged .542 with runners on base, both coming in conference play.

He put together a pair of ten game hitting streaks during the season and compiled 14 multi-hit games, including four hits on two occasions. In a slugfest with UConn on Apr. 28, Wiginton went 4-5 at the plate with four runs scored and four runs driven in.
