May 2, 2001

Brown second baseman Robert Deeb (St. Paul, MN) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.

Playing the weekend on a badly bruised ankle, Deeb went nine-for-17 against Yale, incluing a six-hit doubleheader on Saturday. He scored four runs and drove in two while swiping three bases, raising his average in Ivy play to .418. He had three multi-hit games in the four-game set with the Bulldogs.

Deeb has 55 hits on the season, just five shy of what was the single-season Brown record heading into 2001. He has had 15 multi-hit games this season, and ranks second on the squad in hitting with a .387 average. His 37 runs scored are also a team-high.

Deeb was a graduate of St. Thomas Academy, where he was a three-time letterwinner in baseball. He was named All-Conference twice and was an All-State Honorable Mention as a senior.
