PROVIDENCE, RI - Freshman third baseman Jeff Nichols (Medford, NJ) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on April 30.
Nichols hit .500 (7-for-14) with a double, homerun and three RBI in five games last week. He capped his impressive offensive week by going 4-for-6 with a double, a homer and two RBI in a doubleheader split at Harvard on Saturday.
The freshman recorded an 11-game hitting streak from March 21-29, which is tied for the longest Brown streak of the year. Nichols is hitting .307 with four homers and 30 RBI on the season. He has started 42 out of the Bears 43 games.
The Bears (22-21, 10-6 Ivy) trail the Harvard Crimson by one game in the Ivy's Red Rolfe Division standings with four league games remaining.
Brown returns to action on Friday, May 3 for a pivotal doubleheader at Yale beginning at noon.
