Rain Holds Off Bears' Home Opener Against Rhode Island

Providence, RI - The Brown baseball team's home-opener against in-state rival Rhode Island on Wednesday has been postponed due to rain. The doubleheader will now be played next Wednesday, April 12, at 2 p.m. The Bears will host a doubleheader with Princeton this Saturday, April 8, at noon. On Sunday, Brown will host Cornell in doubleheader action also set to start at noon.
The Bears are off to a 3-1 start in Ivy League play after going 0-12 in their first 12 non-conference games. Junior pitcher/second baseman Bryan Tews was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading Brown to its sweep over Penn and split with Columbia over the weekend. Tews hit .579 in the four games and drove in ten runs.
