Gallagher, Stern Sweep Ivy League Baseball Honors

PROVIDENCE, RI - Seniors Shaun Gallagher (West Chester, PA) and Jonathan Stern (Long Valley, NJ) swept the weekly Ivy League baseball honors as announced on March 26.

Gallagher, a first baseman for the Bears, was named the Player of the Week after hitting at a .500 clip (10-for-20) with two homers, four doubles and six RBIs in the first five games of Brown's southern spring trip. The senior recorded a six-game hitting streak last week and currently leads the Bears (6-7) in batting (.429), homeruns (3), RBIs (16), and doubles (8). He capped his impressive week by going five-for-eight with two homers, two RBIs and two doubles in a doubleheader split at UNC-Wilmington on March 24.

Stern, a right-handed pitcher for the Bears, was named the Pitcher of the Week. The senior has dominated in the early going by posting a 3-0 record with a 2.37 ERA as of last week. On March 21, he picked up his third victory of the season as Brown defeated Navy 11-1 in Annapolis, MD. Stern scattered five hits in six innings of work, holding the Midshipmen scoreless and striking out nine batters. The senior has recorded 17 strikeouts overall this season.

The Bears (6-7) continue their southern trip with games at Elon (March 27), UNC Greensboro (March 28), and Duke (March 29-30).
