Baseball's Cameron Mitchell Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI - Cameron Mitchell (Lincoln, RI) (Athens Drive HS/Raleigh, NC) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week in baseball on March 19.
Mitchell, a catcher and designated hitter for Brown, has provided some offensive firepower for the Bears in their first six games of the season. The freshman is hitting .364 (4-11) with 1 HR and a .727 slugging percentage.
On March 16, Mitchell was 2-3 with a double in a 4-1 loss at High Point. In a 16-3 victory at North Carolina A&T on March 10, Mitchell was 1-2 as he launched the first home run of his collegiate career.
Mitchell, a catcher with an exceptional release time, will be used as a back up behind the plate and will also see time as a designated hitter. The freshman has started in three games for the Bears this season.
The Bears are off to a 4-2 start and will return to action on Thursday, March 21 at 2:30 p.m. when they battle Navy in Annapolis, MD.
