Brown Baseball Drops Rubber Game, 4-2
The Brown baseball team dropped the decisive third game in their season opening series at UNC-Wilmington, falling 4-2 to the host Seahawks on Sunday.
UNCW jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first off Brown starter Jonathan Stern, who lasted five innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs while striking out four.
With UNCW leading 3-0, the Bears cut the lead to two in the top of the fifth. Dan Spring walked with one out and was bunted to second by Bobby Deeb. Rick Lynn then drove in Spring with a liner up the middle to plate Brown's first run of the game.
The Bears got another run in the ninth on an RBI single by Shaun Gallagher, but UNCW pitcher Charlie Weatherby got Jason Priede to ground into a game-ending fielder's choice.
Brown, now 1-2 overall, faces George Mason and Cleveland State next weekend at George Mason.
