Brown Splits Doubleheader with Old Dominion

The Brown University Baseball team split the doubleheader with Old Dominion University. The Bears fell to Old Dominion in the first game 9-2, and went on to defeat ODU 11-8 in the second game.

Heading into the eighth inning in the first game the Bears were down 3-2, when Old Dominion tallied six unearned runs to seal the victory. James Cramphin started the game for Brown and pitched two and a third innings, he was relieved by Sam Jennings who recorded one hit, two walks, and a walk in four and two thirds innings.

Offensively, Paul Christian was 2-4 with a double as Eric Larson was 1-2 scoring a run. Tallying the other run for Brown was Cameron Mitchell who was 1-3.

In the second game of the day Brown was led by James Lowe who was 2-3 with a grand slam, five RBI, one walk, one sacrafice fly and a stolen base. Jeff Nichols was 4-4 on the day recording two doubles, two singles, and three runs. Chris Contrino also scored three runs for Brown on 2-2 hitting. Contrino also had a double, and an RBI.

Larson came in to pinch hit and recorded a triple and two RBI. Matt Kutler went 1-4 and recorded two RBI. Dan Spring was 1-3 as Bobby Deeb went 1-4 with two runs and a stolen base. Recording the win for Brown was Harris Frankel, who relieved Cameron Johnson.

The Bears are now 2-7-1 on the season as they continue action in the Southern trip.
