The Brown University baseball team picked up its first win of the year with a 7-4 victory over Radford at Duke. The Bears are now 1-4-1 on the season. Sophomore Chris Davidson (Nova Scotia, CAN) recorded a win for Brown pitching in five innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs. Davidson also accumulated three strike-outs.
Senior Dan Spring closed for the Bears pitching a scoreless ninth inning and recording two strike-outs. Junior Sam Jennings (New Ashford, MA) and sophomore Eli Friedman (Pittsburgh, PA) also pitched for the Bears.
Freshman Bobby Wiginton (Fresno, CA) was 3-5 recording two runs with a double and two stolen bases. Junior Bobby Deeb (West St. Paul, MN) went 2-3 and recorded his first homerun of the season. Deeb also accumulated two RBI and a stolen base. Junior Matt Kutler (Omaha, NE) was 1-4 on the day with a double and an RBI.
Freshmen Cameron Johnson (Berkeley, CA) and Eric Larson (Bradenton, FL) as well as sophomore James Lowe (Asheboro, NC) all recorded two hits. Johnson was 2-5 with a single and an RBI while Larson was 2-2 with a single, a double, and two RBI, and Lowe was 2-5 with one RBI.
The Bears will face Duke University at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Duke.
