Brown Drops 6-4 Decision to Radford

The Brown University Baseball Team dropped a 6-4 Decision to Radford in the first of two games today, Friday, March 14, 2003. The Bears are now 0-4-1 on the season and will face Radford at 6:00 p.m. tonight at Duke University.

Getting the start for Brown was freshman Shaun McNamara (Worcester, MA) who pitched two and one third innings and recorded three strike-outs as well as six runs, four of which were earned. Junior Jason Priede (Tampa, FL) came into relieve McNamara and pitched in four plus innings recording five strike-outs, three hits one walk, and no runs. Also pitching for the Bears was sophomore Eli Friedman (Pittsburgh, PA), who recorded one strike-out in two thirds of an inning.

Offensively, Brown freshmen Paul Christian (Chapel Hill, NC) was two of four with one double and an RBI as Cameron Johnson (Berkeley, CA) was one for one on a pinch hit single. Sophomores Bobby Wiginton (Fresno, CA) and James Lowe (Asheboro, NC) were both one for four with a double and an RBI a piece.

Junior captains Matt Kutler (Omaha, NE) and Bobby Deeb (W. ST. Paul, MN) were both one for three and recorded an RBI. Kutler also recorded a stolen base. The Bears accumulated four runs, eight hits, and two errors while Radford recorded six runs, nine hits, and one error
