Bears Drop Two to Tennessee Tech, Tie Binghamton

The Brown University Baseball Team suffered two losses and one tie as they continued action in the 2003 season. The Bears fell to Tennessee Tech in a continuation game this morning 9-3. Junior Bobby Deeb was 1-3 with three stolen bases as sophomore Bobby Wiginton was 1-4 with one stolen base.

In Brown's second match up with Tennessee Tech the Bears fel 3-1. Junior Joel DeMaria pitched an entire game, including 54 pitches. DeMaria recorded three strike-outs and gave up three earned runs on an outstanding performance.

Deeb was 1-4 with two stolen bases as Wiginton was 2-3 with one RBI. Junior Matt Kutler and sophomore Jeff Nichols were both 1-3. Freshman Cameron Johnson was 2-3 for the Bears.

Brown then played Binghamton in their final game of the day. The game went 10 innings and was called after the tenth leaving the score tied at four. The Bears recorded 17 hits, leaving 14 people on base.

Wiginton was 3-5 with a double, he also recorded one of the four runs and had a stolen base. Kutler recorded his firt homerun of the season on 3-5 hitting, he also accumulated three RBI. Nichols was 2-4 with two doubles as was Eric Larson, Larson also recorded a run. Sophomore James Lowe was 2-5 and recorded two of the Bear's four runs. Freshman Paul Christian was 1-2 as Johnson was 1-3.

Sophomore John Magaletti was 2-3 including the game tying RBI in the bottom of the eighth to send the game into the ninth.

The Bears (0-3-1) will compete in the Duke Tournament next weekend.
