He was named the Outstanding Jewish High School Athlete for Nebraska his senior year... Matt hit .400 in his senior high school season and .420 for his American Legion team... His 2000 American Legion team set a local record with a 52-6 record, including 18-0 in league play... Matt hit for the cycle in the state playoff tournament, as he led the team in batting average, doubles, triples, stolen bases and RBI.
