Baseball’s Sliepka Earns Academic All-District Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University baseball pitcher JJ Sliepka (Houston, Texas) has earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday. 

The junior right-handed pitcher provided steady relief work for the Bears as he tied for the team lead with 20 appearances during the season. Sliepka saved his best stuff for the Ivy League season, when he put together a 1.69 ERA over 12 league appearances, adding eight strikeouts with no walks over 16.0 innings.

Sliepka is an Economics concentrator with a 4.00 GPA. He has 48 career appearances in three seasons for the Bears and posted a 2.51 ERA last season.

District 1 is comprised of teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. Half of the 12-player team hailed from the Ivy League.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June.
