Baseball’s Grigo Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior outfielder Sam Grigo (Westbrook, Conn.) of the Brown baseball team has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Grigo, an Economics concentrator, earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors after hitting .313 overall and .329 in league contests. He started all 37 games in right field and led the Bears with 47 hits, adding 21 RBIs and four triples with 24 runs scored. Grigo paced the team with a 15-game hitting streak during the season and had 12 multiple-hit games.

Grigo, who previously earned Academic All-District accolades along with teammate Marc Sredojevic, was the only Ivy League player to earn Academic All-America honors.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-America Teams program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
