Taugner Named to Northwoods League Top Prospects List

Northwoods League Release

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Sophomore Christian Taugner (Roselle, Ill.), a right-handed pitcher on the Brown baseball team, was recently named to the Northwoods Baseball League Top 200 Prospect List. The list was compiled by Bradley Smart from Smart on Sports, which was put together after discussions with all 18 Field Managers in the Northwoods League.

Taugner, who was tabbed No. 53 on the top prospect list, played for the Madison Mallards and was named to the Northwoods League All-Star Team midway through the season. Taugner put together an impressive summer stint, as he issued just seven walks over 47 innings with the Mallards while striking out 31 with a 3.04 ERA.

Taugner is coming off a stellar rookie season with the Bears in 2014, making eight starts as a member of the weekend rotation. He led the team with a 2.39 ERA, 49 strikeouts and 52.2 innings pitched, and allowed just 14 earned runs and nine walks. Taugner was a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week selection and was also named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week after limiting No. 1 South Carolina to just one run in his collegiate debut.
