PRINCETON, N.J. – After a standout performance against Yale over the weekend, freshman Christian Taugner (Roselle, Ill.) of the Brown University baseball team was named the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
In a complete game shutout, Taugner limited Yale to just five hits and six baserunners while striking out a career-high 10 to lift Brown to a 7-0 victory. He had two 1-2-3 innings and only twice allowed a baserunner to get to second-base. Taugner was also named Rookie of the Week on March 11, the first Bear to receive the honor twice since Will Marcal in 2012.
