PROVIDENCE, R.I. – CoSIDA & Captial One have announced their Academic All-District Baseball Teams and Brown senior designated hitter Mike DiBiase (Weston, Mass.) and junior outfielder John Sheridan (Palo Alto, Calif.) were tabbed as Division I Northeast honorees. The awards recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. DiBiase and Sheridan were both first team selections and now move on to consideration Academic All-America honors.
DiBiase, a double concentrator in Philosophy and Economics, boasted a 3.52 GPA, while providing a steadying force in the lineup for the Bears. The senior appeared in 40 games this season and led the squad with five home runs, 26 walks and a .401 on-base percentage. DiBiase was also second on the team with 29 runs, while finishing fourth with 22 RBI. He was among the Ivy League leaders, ranking third in walks and 11th in runs scored.
Sheridan, a Public Policy & American Institutions concentrator, has a 3.65 GPA, and once again proved he is one of the fastest players in the Ivy League. Despite missing 14 games due to injury, he finished third in conference with 12 stolen bases, one behind the league leader. The third-year center fielder is second on the Bears with a .315 average, while ranking second with two triples and fifth with a .432 slugging percentage.
