Providence, RI - Dartmouth used a balanced attack to take an 8-4 victory in the first game of a key Ivy League doubleheader against Brown on Tuesday afternoon, overcoming rainy conditions that forced the planned second game to be postponed. That contest will now be played on Wednesday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. as a single nine-inning game.
Brown took the first lead in the game, jumping up 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI double from junior Matt Colantonio (Garden City, NY). However, Dartmouth came back with three runs in the top of the second, one of two big innings for the visitors. After adding a run in both the second and third frames, including a solo home run from Pete Greskoff (Paoli, PA) in the third, the Bears found themselves tied with Dartmouth at 3-3 heading into the fourth.
In the late innings though, the Big Green put the game away with a combination of solid, consistent hitting and impressive relief pitching. Dartmouth scored three in the top of the fourth, and added single runs in the fifth and sixth, pushing the advantage to 8-4 as Brown's offense struggled to find a rhythm. The Big Green's Cole Sulser closed things out in the seventh, setting the Bears down in order to preserve the 8-4 Dartmouth win.
Brown will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when the Bears wrap up their season series with Dartmouth at Murray Stadium at 12:00 p.m.
