Hamden, CT – Brown used a seven-run third inning to blow open a previously close game on Tuesday afternoon, jumping out to a big lead early and holding on for a 12-6 victory, their second in a row. Junior Pete Greskoff and sophomore Graham Tyler each had four RBI’s in the win, combining to go 5-9 with a pair of home runs.
After Greskoff gave Brown the early 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first, Brown’s bats exploded in the third, as the Bears came across the plate seven times in the frame. Tyler led off the inning with a bang, knocking a solo home run across the left field wall. It was a sign of things to come, as the first seven Brown batters in the inning reached base, highlighted by a three-run blast by Greskoff, as Bruno came out of the inning ahead 8-0.
Though the Bobcats attempted to rally late in the game, Brown added four more runs in the late going to stay comfortably in front, holding on for the 12-6 win. Senior Matt Boylan turned in his second consecutive impressive start, going five strong innings while allowing just a single run. Boylan struck out five Quinnipiac batters, and gave up only three hits.
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they open their home schedule with a doubleheader against Siena beginning at 2:00 p.m.
